A mountain with its gypsum quarries have made Bad Segeberg famous. It is situated on the south bank of the Segeberg Lake, is 91 metres high and has an eight hundred metre accessible cave. The cave can be viewed from April to October.
The annual Karl-May-Festivals take place in front of a wild-romantic rocky backdrop of the former gypsum quarry. Here Winnetou, Old Shatterhand and other heroes of the Wild West perform.
If you want to walk: Two kilometres to the north is the romantic Lake Ihl situated, six kilometres west the fifty square kilometres large Segeberg state forest. Places for swimming can be found along the Segeberg state forest as well as at Lake Ihl.
