After the discovery of extensive gravel deposits the exploitation and processing started. At the same time the community developed into a popular holiday and excursion destinationdue to its bio-geographic location at the Segeberger Forst and Mzener Lake. Tourism on the one and trade and industry on the other side didn't lead to conflict situations because of the large spacial distance.
